Unbox Robotics is an Indian startup that builds package sortation technologies for logistics companies. Their sortation system involves fleets of more than 100 autonomous robots running in a shared space synchronously and optimally to achieve the business requirements.
They needed someone who could accelerate software development right from the very start while they built their in-house team. We served as their software partners from the idea stage of the startup till initial production.
We architected an end-to-end development plan for all the software components. Our work involved developing of control stack for individual robots, design and implementation of the fleet control server, multi-robot planning, and various other warehouse-related communication modules.
Unbox has raised $12m+ over multiple rounds and now has hundreds of autonomous robots deployed at leading 3PL and e-commerce companies.
Peppermint Robotics builds floor-cleaning robots and industrial material movement autonomous mobile robots
We provided our services to Peppermint at the very initial stages of their inception. They were looking to partner with someone with experience in developing and deploying software for autonomous mobile robots in the industry.
We worked with them since their inception and played a pivotal role in developing their robotics stack, taking them from the ideation stage to pilot in less than 6 months. The robot had various features like obstacle avoidance, complete coverage, and advanced cleaning functionalities. We solved key challenges of coverage planning, localization, control, and hardware interfacing in a time-efficient manner. We also consulted them on hardware, sensors, and actuator selection.
Currently, Peppermint is a global name in autonomous cleaning robots with a presence in many countries.
We worked with a US-based company on a POC project that would help quadriplegic veterans in assisting them to attain autonomy in their day-to-day activities. The project was in collaboration with a US Army medical center focused on rehabilitating wounded warriors.
The outcome of the project was an electric wheelchair-mounted autonomous robot arm. We developed end-to-end software for the system. The system interacted with the user using an accessible UI through speech commands, used AI for perception, and was able to plan and move the robot arm autonomously to perform tasks like opening a door, object handling, and retrieval of objects from refrigerators.
Initial trials at the medical center were successful and the next stage of development is currently underway.
ESR is a US-based company that makes industrial autonomous lawnmowers. They needed technical consultancy and software development to take their autonomous robots from early prototype to market.
We developed drivers for various sensors and actuators for their ROS-based autonomy stack. We also designed their safety architecture for certification requirements. We helped them get production and scale ready on multiple fronts such as DevOps, fleet management, data collection, cloud integration, etc. Our work played a key role in the development of a stable software stack and go from 2 to 25+ robots on the field in less than a year.
At present ESR has acquired multiple landscaping companies and is working towards developing embodied AI to solve general outdoor robotics autonomy.
